Lyon: New Commissioner must reassure industry of commitment to sustainable farming future5.11.32pm GMT Fri 27th Nov 2009 Commenting on the nomination of former Romanian Agriculture Minister Dacian Ciolos to be the new European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Liberal Democrat MEP for Scotland George Lyon said: "Mr Ciolos has a lot of work to do to reassure the EU Agriculture Committee and farmers across Europe that he understands the need for a sustainable future for the farming industry. "If he does not provide this assurance then he will not get my support or the support of the industry for his nomination."
