Scott welcomes renewal of investigation into Lockerbie bombing case

11.45.10am GMT Mon 26th Oct 2009

Commenting on the news that Detectives in Scotland are pursuing "several potential lines of inquiry" as they renew the investigation into the Lockerbie bombing case, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott MSP said:

“I welcome the announcement of further investigation into outstanding issues left up in the air by the withdrawal of Mr Al-Megrahi's appeal.

“I hope that any further evidence collated by the police is taken forward by the Crown Office where it can be adequately tested before the courts.

“Liberal Democrats have been calling for a further investigation into the many unanswered questions surrounding the Lockerbie bombing since Mr Megrahi dropped his appeal.

“I am pleased that this now appears to be happening.”
