O'Donnell condemns BBC Gaza decision

12.17.23pm GMT Mon 26th Jan 2009

Liberal Democrat MSP and member of the Cross Party Group on Gaza Hugh O’Donnell has condemned the decision by the BBC not to screen the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) appeal for Gaza.

Hugh O'Donnell MSPAfter lodging a motion at the Scottish Parliament, Mr O'Donnell said:

"I think people are smart enough to distinguish between an aid appeal for a growing humanitarian disaster and showing support for a political stance.

"Screening the DEC appeal would help the many and growing number of people who want to help alleviate some of the suffering being felt in Gaza and do so without subscribing to any particular political motive.

"The BBC should reverse their cowardly decision and show the appeal today."
